Up for review today is an Ave Maria Crusader.

Size: 5×52
Wrapper: Ecuador
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Honduras, Nicaragua
Price: $4.00
Paired With:
Body: Medium to Full

Construction & Appearance:
The cigar is rolled almost flawlessly. There are minimal veins present and it is tight and compact all the way down. The wrapper shows next to no oil on it. I can’t say it enough, the sight of this cigar is truly impressive. It has one of the best looking bands out there. It’s also a huge band. When you remove this band, you still have a ton of cigar to smoke!

Pre-lit:
Smooth draw
This beauty of a cigar was a treat even just to look at. The cigar is rolled nice and tight with thick tobacco, which is easily noticeable when looking at this stick. There were no soft spots and the pre-light draw gave off a hint of leathery tobacco. I used my scissors on the Crusader, and the cap opened up easily with no loose tobacco flaking out the end.

Flavor:
1st:
This has a very smooth and easy draw. It produced beautiful white smoke. I couldn’t find a single complaint about the burn of this cigar either. Spice and pepper were present but backed off quick.

2nd:
The second third of this cigar is where the Crusader really finds its stride. Smooth leather, roasted wood, and a real noticeable sweetness on the finish. The spice is only lightly present by this point, and more dominant is cream! Great stuff!

3rd:
This portion is very consistent with the second. Smooth and rich with cream.

Conclusion:
I was very excited to try this cigar, and had been since I first heard about them. The Ave Maria lived up to all my expectations and I was very happy with its end result. This is a cigar that everyone should try at least once. I will be buying more of these, there is no doubt.

Long ashes,
Frankie
