Wrapper: Colorado Nicaragua
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua

Brief History: This “original” Casa Magna offers a full-bodied blend, introduced in 2008. Created by Manolo Quesada and Nestor Plasencia. It was cigar of the year in Cigar Aficionado roughly 3 years ago.

Construction: 9
Appearance: 9
This cigar is almost perfect with a solid construction, wrapper with no blemishes or irregularity and it is consistent for the entire box.
Size: 5.5 x 52
Paired with: Bourbon, to compliment the full bodies flavor
Price: 9 – very affordable
Body of Cigar: Full, all the way

Flavor: 9
Burn: 8

I used a bullet cutter here to allow for a consistent draw of this full bodied smoke. Also, there is little-to-no chance of destroying the wrapper, if you are a hack like me.

Overall Experience: 9

The Casa Magna is a cigar that clearly shows why it was cigar of the year in CA a few years ago. There are so many new cigars that hit the market each year, but Casa Magna is the one cigar that I go back to every time for the same, great consistent experience. It has rich, full taste with hints of cedar and cocoa, and stays this way through almost the entire smoke. For this Casa Magna cigar and all my cigars, I always allow them to age for at least a year before smoking, so they mellow out nicely. At only $6.00 per stick, this is the best smoke for the value, in my opinion, if you like full bodied cigars.
